Welcome to my Harlem Renaissance WebQuest
The Harlem Renaissance was a movement that took place primarily in New York's Harlem, though the ideas that stemmed from the movement carried far beyond New York. This movements intention was to introduce and establish the African American's place and culture in America. This period, primarily taking place in the 1930s, proved to be a time for great artistic achievements, especially from the African American population. I want you to help me uncover and bring more of these great works of art whether written, painted or sung, to the attention of more people. It will ultimately be your goal to locate pictures of the figure you are researching, be able to share with others a brief biography of that artist, and to give some examples of their work.
